A Legacy Beneath
the Waves

Honoring a Grand Legacy

The history of diving in Sabang cannot be written without mentioning the legendary Mr. Dodent. As the pioneer who first introduced Pulau Weh to the world's diving community, his commitment to the ocean was recognized nationally when he received the Kalpataru Award—Indonesia’s highest honor for environmental conservation.

Established in 1989, Rubiah Tirta Divers was born from this very same ethos of conservation and exploration. Many of our senior guides were mentored in the shadow of this legacy, ensuring that every dive we lead today carries the same respect for the marine ecosystem that earned Mr. Dodent his place in history.

"We don't just dive these waters; we protect a history that was entrusted to us by the legends who came before."

Our Journey Through Time

1989

The Birth of a Pioneer

Rubiah Tirta Divers officially started its journey. We were among the first to bring professional scuba diving to Pulau Weh, laying the foundation for Sabang's tourism heritage.

1990s

Mapping the Unknown

Our team spent years exploring the Andaman Sea, discovering and naming many of the 20+ legendary dive sites you visit today, from Batee Tokong to Shark Point.

2004

Strength in Resilience

After the great tsunami, we stood together with the local community, leading reef rehabilitation and ensuring Pulau Weh remained a world-class diving destination.

Today

Preserving the Legacy

With over three decades of experience, we continue to provide safe, local-expert-led diving while protecting the Rubiah Sea Garden for future generations.

Respecting Tradition

Our heritage is also one of respect. We work closely with the **Panglima Laot** (local sea commanders) to ensure that diving activities support the local community and respect the sacred traditions of Aceh. When you dive with us, you are supporting a sustainable ecosystem that has thrived for generations.
